What does A3N mean?
A3 stands for Advanced Network Authorization and Authentication.
Is the A3N upgrade required?
Although the A3N upgrade is not required, this upgrade allows you to utilize existing company network security permissions when the Optima vT is set up on your company network allowing for, user management, permission-based feature controls, audit trails, operational checks and record protection in accordance with the FDA’s 21 CFR Part 11 guidelines. The new A3N feature also facilitates moving new products into manufacturing quickly and supports the Optima vT qualification and operational qualification (IQ/OQ) processes with greater efficiency.
Why should I upgrade?
The Optima vT A3N upgrade offers additional data security and integrity features including user management, permission-based feature controls, audit trails, operational checks and record protection that enable compliance with the FDA’s 21 CFR Part 11 guidelines.
I already upgraded to A3L, do I need to upgrade again?
Yes, if you prefer or the company requires centralized user credentials and password policy controlled by the IT department which will also minimize setup and maintenance of users on individual testers.
Will my IT department need to be involved in the implementation of the A3 Network Upgrade?
Yes. Because the A3N update utilizes existing network user permission settings, your IT or Network Administrator will need to be part of the process. We understand that every company has unique network system and security requirements. Our service and support team will coordinate with your IT/Network Administrator to streamline the implementation process and ensure the update is set up within your companies’ network guidelines.
How does the A3N upgrade work with my existing Microsoft network user profile settings?
User credentials and password policies are centralized in Windows Active Directory and made accessible via LDAP queries from the Optima vT client. The credentials and policies are controlled by the IT department and the Optima vT client does not modify or create any objects on the AD LDAP server.
Which Optima vT models can be upgraded?
• Optima vT software version 2.17.0 or greater is required.
• Optima vT 2 can be upgraded via a software update.
• Optima vT 1 can be upgraded via a hardware and software update.
Uson’s support team or your local Uson representative can determine the upgrade requirements of your tester based on the tester serial number.
How does the A3N upgrade process work?
The process is simple! First you will contact us with the serial numbers of the Optima units you want to upgrade. The serial number will allow our service team to research and audit your equipment and build details to determine all the components needed to perform the upgrade.
Once your tester information is collected, we will coordinate the upgrade and scheduling with your local service representative. The local representative will contact you directly to schedule your upgrade service.
How long does the upgrade process take?
Updating the software and installing the new A3 license takes minutes to complete. Adding new users in is easy and intuitive, once completed the users and passwords can be exported for easy import into other testers.
The additional hardware upgrade components required for the Optima vT 1 will require additional time to complete. Our service and support team can provide you with a time estimate once we have your tester details.
